SEVP Portal Release 6.1 Planning Guide

Issue Correction

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) reporting and validation dates will appear in student Portal records. 

Students will receive only one correct Portal Closure email. 

Portal accounts will become “Read Only” on the 16th day after the student’s optional practical training (OPT) and/or STEM extension ends. 

Portal Reset Account link on the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Student Information page will function correctly. 

SEVIS to Portal and Portal to SEVIS transmissions will send correct information and update both SEVIS and Portal event histories accurately. 

When a student’s new period of post-completion OPT begins, the Portal will send an account creation email to the student. 

During the deployment students will not be able to log in to the SEVP Portal. Any new information entered in SEVIS will be stored and uploaded to the Portal once the Portal is back online.
