Study in the States Introduces the Facebook Chatbot

The new Study in the States Facebook chatbot is live! The tool was launched on the Study in the States Facebook page to help prospective students learn how to become an F or M international student in the United States.

To access the chatbot:

Visit the Study in the States Facebook page and click “Message.”

For desktop users, a chat box will appear at the bottom of your screen. For mobile users, the button redirects to the Facebook Messenger app. In addition, mobile users can access the chatbot by opening a new message in the Facebook Messenger app and typing or selecting “Study in the States” as the recipient. You will receive an introductory message, disclaimer

Select a topic.

At any time, type “menu” to see a list of topics the chatbot can discuss or “restart” to restart the conversation.

The chatbot provides information about the following topics:

  • Studying in the United States
  • Financial Ability
  • I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System Fee
  • Finding a Student and Exchange Visitor Program-certified School
  • Other Student Visas
  • PDSO/DSO Responsibilities

Navigate through the chatbot with the provided buttons.

The chatbot cannot recognize any other words besides “menu” and “restart,” so you must navigate through the chatbot with the provided buttons.

It’s important to note that the chatbot removes the ability to directly message Study in the States with questions. If you have any case-specific questions, please contact the SEVP Response Center for assistance.
