DHS Blue Campaign | Combating Human Trafficking in Schools

January 11, 2025

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Blue Campaign is focused on raising awareness and providing resources to help combat human trafficking. Designated School Officials (DSOs) play a key role in protecting international students from trafficking. Here are some key resources and steps DSOs can take to help prevent trafficking in schools:

Resources for DSOs:

How DSOs Can Help:

  • Join #WearBlueDay: Wear blue on Jan. 11 to show support for awareness efforts.
  • Distribute Awareness Materials: Share resources with staff, students and the community.
  • Engage in Training and Initiatives: Stay informed about local and national efforts to prevent trafficking.

By using these resources and taking proactive steps, DSOs can make a significant impact in preventing human trafficking and protecting international students. For more information, visit the DHS Blue Campaign website.
