DSOs: Visit the SEVIS Help Hub for Resources on Dependents
Study in the States has added and updated several SEVIS Help Hub pages that share information about entering and updating information in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) about F-2 and M-2 dependents.
An F-2 or M-2 dependent is a spouse or child that accompanies an F-1 or M-1 international student to the United States. Once an F-1 or M-1 international student informs their designated school official (DSO) that a dependent will be accompanying them to the United States, the DSO issues a Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” to that F-2 or M-2 dependent.
The new and updated pages about F-2 and M-2 dependents on the SEVIS Help Hub cover topics that include:
- Managing SEVIS records of F-2 and M-2 dependents.
- Viewing F-2 and M-2 dependent SEVIS records.
- Adding SEVIS records for F-2 and M-2 dependents.
- Updating F-2 and M-2 dependent SEVIS records.
- Terminating F-2 and M-2 dependent records in SEVIS.
The SEVIS Help Hub is the central location for DSOs to find information about SEVIS, including reporting requirements and resources related to SEVIS enhancements and webinars. It includes step-by-step instructions and detailed user guides for many of the processes that DSOs must complete in SEVIS.
