DSOs: Annual Verification Period Begins Dec. 2

November 8, 2022

Designated school officials (DSOs) are required by the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) to complete an annual verification process within the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). This process ensures all DSOs who have access to the SEVIS are still employed by their institutions, are active DSOs, and require continued access to SEVIS. Read the below for key information regarding this required process.

Dates to Know:

  • Verification Start Date – Dec. 2, 2022
  • Verification End Date – March 2, 2023

Verification Instructions:

For instructions, visit the PDSO/DSO Annual Verification article on the SEVIS Help Hub.

Consequences for Incomplete Verification:

  • Loss of access to SEVIS
  • Loss of batch access
  • Any PDSO can complete verification up to 30 days after the end of Annual Verification period. During that time, the PDSO can only verify their DSOs and themselves.
  • May result in a compliance action

For additional information on the annual verification period, read the full Broadcast Message on ICE.gov/SEVP.
