Check Out the SEVIS Data Mapping Tool

To learn about international student trends, visit the SEVIS Data Mapping Tool on Study in the States. The SEVIS Data Mapping Tool is an interactive tool that illustrates trends and information on international students in the United States using data from the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). The map is updated regularly with information from SEVIS.

In January 2020, California, New York and Texas were the three states that enrolled the greatest number of international students. In California, there were 184,526 Active international students, followed by New York with 137,734 Active international students and Texas with 75,845 Active international students.

Asia sent the greatest number of international students to the United States, with 860,000 Active students in January 2020. European students were the second largest group with 84,769 Active international students in January 2020.
