SEVP reviews stakeholder feedback

Visit the Updated Trends and Improvements Section

May 29, 2018

Study in the States recently updated the Trends and Improvements section by adding new feedback topics on interagency coordination and the Form I-17, “Petition for Approval of School for Attendance by Nonimmigrant Student,” process.

The Interagency Coordination topic focuses on how the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) engages with partner agencies to ensure a more consistent interpretation and application of federal regulation concerning the international student life cycle. Among other solutions, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) addressed stakeholder feedback by launching the Government Voices Webinar Series in January 2018 as a platform for government partners to discuss areas of shared responsibility.

The Form I-17 Process Improvements topic details how SEVP plans to streamline processes related to the Form I-17. In January 2018, SEVP launched the upload evidence functionality to allow school officials to upload evidence for the Form I-17 directly into the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System.

The Trends and Improvements section is the central repository for tracking and monitoring the government’s progress on feedback received from the academic and international student communities. Visit the section to learn more about specific government responses to stakeholder concerns.

Do you have a piece of feedback you would like to see addressed in the Trends and Improvements section? Share it by sending an email to SEVP@ice.dhs.gov and including Trends and Improvements in the subject line.
