Check Out the Latest SEVIS by the Numbers Report

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program’s (SEVP) latest SEVIS by the Numbers report is now available on ICE.gov/SEVP.

According to the report, there were 1.2 million F and M international students in the United States in March 2018. Additionally, there were more than 209,000 J-1 exchange visitors.

The report also notes that there are 8,744 SEVP-certified schools in the United States as of March 2018.

Of the 1.2 million F and M students in the United States:

  • Roughly 85 percent are enrolled in associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral programs.
  • Nearly 50 percent are from China or India.
  • Approximately 35 percent study at SEVP-certified schools in California, New York or Texas.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) biannually releases the SEVIS by the Numbers report, which includes trends based on data from the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
