Watch the Recording of the First Government Voices Webinar

February 13, 2018

A full recording of the first Government Voices Webinar, which aired on Jan. 31, is now available on Study in the States.

In the webinar, representatives from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the U.S. Department of State discussed the international student life cycle and how different government entities work together throughout it.

The Government Voices Webinar: Exploring the International Student Life Cycle provided information to help designated school officials (DSOs) navigate the international student process, from the time a student applies to a U.S. program of study to when they depart the United States. Watch the recording to learn about:

  • Common reasons a student might be refused an F-1 or M-1 visa.
  • What to know about students applying for change of status.
  • DSO responsibilities after a student completes their program of study.

The webinar also provided an overview of how SEVP, USCIS, CBP and the Department of State work together on both a scheduled and ad hoc basis to share knowledge, provide training, collaborate on policy decisions and co-present at stakeholder events.

Access the recording, presentation and other webinar resources on the Government Voices Webinar: Exploring the International Student Life Cycle page. You can also stay up to date with future SEVP and SEVIS webinars by bookmarking and visiting the Stakeholder Webinars page on Study in the States.
