New Interim Final Guidance Open for Comment until Feb. 27
On Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) released two new interim final guidance documents for public comment:
- SEVP Policy Guidance S1.2.6: State Licensure Exemption Evidence - Clarifies the evidentiary requirements for schools exempt from state licensure.
- SEVP Policy Guidance S4.3: Change of Ownership - Interprets the change of ownership regulation for SEVP-certified schools. The guidance covers change of ownership thresholds, the types of changes requiring reporting and determining the date of change.
These guidance documents are open for public comment until Feb. 27, 2017, and found on the Study in the States SEVP Guidance for Comment page under “Interim Final Guidance.” This page also contains the procedure for submitting comments. Please note that once the open comment period closes, these guidance documents will be moved to the Policy drop down on the Schools section of ICE.gov/SEVP.
As official SEVP policy, interim final guidance documents establish standards and are used in SEVP adjudications. These documents are intended to clarify laws or regulations related to SEVP adjudications and do not replace or supersede those laws or regulations.
