DSOs: Watch the Webinar for Community Colleges on Study in the States
On Dec. 7, 2016, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Commerce hosted the International Student Interagency Webinar for Community Colleges.
Designated school officials (DSOs) interested in the webinar can watch a recording on Study in the States to learn more about community colleges and the international student process. The webinar is approximately one hour long and includes links to several online resources.
The webinar focused on several interagency programs and how their work relates to U.S. community colleges that host international students, including:
- U.S. Commercial Service: trade promotion program within the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration.
- EducationUSA: Department of State network of over 400 international student advising centers in more than 170 countries.
- Bureau of Consular Affairs: Department of State entity responsible for issuing nonimmigrant visas to study in the United States.
- Student and Exchange Visitor Program: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement program that oversees and manages F and M nonimmigrant visa holders in the United States.
- U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services: DHS entity that oversees lawful immigration to the United States.
