Students: View the New I-901 SEVIS Fee Tutorial on Study in the States
On March 22, 2016, Study in the States released an updated version of the I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Fee payment tutorial. The tutorial reflects recent changes made to the SEVIS Form I-901 and provides step-by-step guidance on the required payment process for the I-901 SEVIS Fee.
Specifically, the updated tutorial includes instructions for:
- Paying the I-901 SEVIS Fee through the Western Union payment process.
- Printing the I-901 SEVIS Fee receipt to present at a visa interview and at a U.S. port of entry as proof of payment.
- Confirming that the SEVIS ID on the payment receipt matches the SEVIS ID on the student’s most current Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.”
The new SEVIS Form I-901, published on July 26, 2015, includes a mandatory email address field. Having this contact information allows the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to send an instant email notification to a student if his or her I-901 SEVIS Fee payment status changes.
All prospective F and M students are required to pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee before the U.S. Department of State will issue a visa. Students and exchange visitors can pay the fee in U.S. dollars using a credit card on FMJfee.com, or by check, money order or bank draft.
