United States Hosts More Than 80,000 South Korean Students

December 18, 2015

South Korea ranks third overall for the number of F and M students that come to study in the United States. According to the latest SEVIS by the Numbers report, South Korean students account for 7 percent of the United States’ international student population with more than 81,000 F and M students studying in the United States.

SEVIS by the Numbers is the Student and Exchange Visitor Program’s quarterly report highlighting nonimmigrant student and exchange visitor trends based on information collected in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). This quarter’s report includes a special section on South Korean students and features data and trends pulled in November 2015.

According to the report, most South Korean students are enrolled in bachelor degree programs and study business, management, marketing and related programs. Almost 6,000 South Korean students are enrolled in kindergarten through 12 grade schools, and more than 40 percent of South Korean F and M students study in the states of California, New York and Texas.
