SEVP Attends EducationUSA’s 2015 Annual Forum
July 8, 2015
The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) recently attended EducationUSA’s 2015 Annual Forum — a three day event for designated school officials (DSO) to learn about F and M student recruitment, enrollment and support services.
EducationUSA, a U.S. Department of State–supported network of approximately 400 advising centers in 170 countries, sponsored the event, which draws hundreds of attendees each year. SEVP and representatives from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs shared information with DSOs and other conference attendees about the following:
- The “Adjustments to Limitations on Designated School Official Assignment and Study by F-2/M-2 Nonimmigrants” regulation;
- The recent Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Release 6.21 and information about the SEVIS names, addresses and email standards, as well as updated forms and the SEVIS Help Hub;
- The recent scams associated with the I-901 SEVIS Fee. SEVP reminded DSOs that students with an outstanding I-901 SEVIS Fee balance have 30 days to pay the fee via FMJfee.com; and
- The hiring and deployment plans for the third and fourth classes of SEVP field representatives.
