Four Tips to Help Students Remain Compliant with Regulations
April 24, 2015
The Student and Exchange Visitor Program’s (SEVP) newest conference presentation is organized by chapters, so you can either select the specific topics you would like to learn about or watch the entire presentation.
In the chapter four video, you can learn about the latest trends and issues affecting international students and SEVP-certified schools. SEVP explains the top four best practices for designated school officials to help ensure international students remain compliant with federal rules and regulations. Here is a look at the four tips provided in the video update:
- Tip One: Remind students to pay the I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee on their current SEVIS ID to ensure smooth travel;
- Tip Two: Remember important information regarding authorized periods of optional practical training (OPT);
- Tip Three: Ensure accurate OPT reporting in SEVIS; and
- Tip Four: Ensure students that receive a Form I-515A, “Notice to Student or Exchange Visitor,” at a U.S. port of entry file all required documents with SEVP within 30 days of receipt.
