Reminder for DSOs: Annual Verification Ends March 2

February 3, 2015
As a reminder, action is required on the part of principal designated school officials (PDSOs) at Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified schools. All PDSOs at SEVP-certified schools must complete the designated school official (DSO) annual verification in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) by March 2.

PDSOs must complete the verification in SEVIS by reviewing and verifying that every PDSO and DSO who has access to SEVIS is still employed by their institution and requires continued SEVIS access. If a PDSO fails to verify this SEVIS information by March 2:

  • DSOs at unverified schools will lose access to SEVIS;
  • Unverified schools will be unable to use batch processing; and
  • Unverified schools will be considered out of compliance with recordkeeping and reporting regulations.
Thank you to those PDSOs who have already reviewed and verified their school’s information in SEVIS. As of mid-January, an impressive 83 percent of programs and 71 percent of schools completed the annual verification process. If you are a PDSO and have not completed this process, you will receive reminders via SEVIS broadcast message and on the SEVIS message board until the March 2 deadline.

To comply with the Federal Information System Management Act, this verification process will take place each year from Dec. 2 to March 2. To learn more about the verification process, view SEVP’s recent SEVIS 6.18 Post-Release Webinar.
