Official SEVP Field Representatives

July 9, 2014

Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) field representatives serve as direct day‑to‑day liaisons between SEVP and certified schools. SEVP field representatives are official Federal government employees that are trained and certified by SEVP to:

  • Ensure SEVP-certified schools understand applicable rules and regulations,
  • Answer general questions related to the nonimmigrant student process,
  • Provide training and assistance to designated school officials,
  • Meet in-person with school officials of each SEVP-certified school with active F or M students in their geographical area at least twice per year,
  • Help school officials with the SEVP recertification processes by conducting scheduled school visits, and
  • Attend conferences and meetings in their areas that pertain to nonimmigrant students.

SEVP field representatives will make scheduled appointments with schools and will not visit unannounced. Here’s what school officials can expect from SEVP field representatives:

  • An introductory contact,
  • Meeting request, and
  • Meeting agenda.

Field representatives will identify themselves through official Department of Homeland Security credentials.

SEVP does not partner with any private or public company for any reason, nor does any private or public company represent SEVP in any capacity or manner, ever. If you have any questions or concerns regarding a field representative being an official SEVP employee, you can contact the SEVP Response Center by calling 703-603-3400 or e-mailing SEVP@ice.dhs.gov.

Have you met your SEVP field representative? Share how they helped you on Twitter or Facebook.
