SEVP Introduces Uploading Evidence in SEVIS

December 1, 2017

Please note, the SEVIS Upload Evidence Webinar is postponed due to technical difficulties and has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017.

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) will host a webinar to introduce an upcoming enhancement that allows school officials to submit evidence via the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).

The SEVIS Upload Evidence Webinar will take place on Friday, Dec. 8 from 2–3 p.m. EST and will preview the new SEVIS upload evidence functionality for the following actions:

  • Correction requests.
  • Initial SEVP certification.
  • SEVP recertification.
  • Form I-17, “Petition for Approval of School for Attendance by Nonimmigrant Student,” updates.

Currently, SEVP collects evidence for the above requests via email; after the upload functionality is live, school officials must upload their evidence in SEVIS. SEVP plans to enable the upload functionality on Jan. 8, 2018, and will institute a transition period for stakeholders. After the transition period, SEVP will no longer accept emailed evidence.

To ensure SEVP retains access to submitted documentation, do not upload encrypted or password protected documents. SEVIS is a secure environment.
