Students: Follow These Steps to Maintain Your Status

While studying in the United States, you must follow specific rules to maintain your F or M student status.

Maintaining your status is important because when the U.S. Department of State issued you an F or M student visa, it meant that you were coming to the United States for the sole purpose of completing a program of study at a Student and Exchange Visitor Program-certified school. If you take any action that detracts from that purpose, you risk losing your status and being sent home.
