Students: Read This Information Before Paying Your I-901 SEVIS Fee
As an F-1 or M-1 international student, you must pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee on FMJFee.com after you receive your Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” and before you apply for a visa with the U.S. Department of State.
Before you pay your I-901 SEVIS Fee, read these common questions from international students and find answers that may help you during the payment process.
Where do I find my SEVIS ID?
You can find your Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) identification (ID) on your Form I-20. Make sure you use the Form I-20 from the school you decide to attend when paying the I-901 SEVIS Fee.
What should I do if I enter information incorrectly while paying the I-901 SEVIS Fee?
If you enter information (e.g., SEVIS ID, birth date, etc.) incorrectly when paying the I‑901 SEVIS Fee, email FMJFee.SEVIS@ice.dhs.gov to request an information change, rather than paying the fee again. In your email request, include your SEVIS ID and the correct information that you need to change.
How do I pay with Western Union?
Visit ICE.gov/SEVP for step-by-step instructions on using Western Union to pay the I‑901 SEVIS Fee. Please note that only Western Union Quick Collect™/Quick Pay™ locations can process the I‑901 SEVIS Fee payment. To confirm that Quick Collect™/Quick Pay™ service is available at a location near you, find your nearest Western Union branch.
Do I have to pay both the I-901 SEVIS Fee and the visa application processing fee?
Yes. The I-901 SEVIS Fee and the visa application processing fee are two separate fees. The I‑901 SEVIS Fee is paid to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program. Students that are issued an initial Form I-20 must pay this fee.
The visa application processing fee supports the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs. For more information on the visa application processing fee, please visit the Bureau of Consular Affairs’ Fees for Visa Services page.
