Mapping SEVIS by the Numbers Now Includes a U.S. Map
For this quarter’s SEVIS by the Numbers report, Study in the States unveiled a new United States map for its Mapping SEVIS by the Numbers tool, as well as the functionality to view historical data for every state, continent, region or country.
This enhancement makes visualizing the breakdown of international student populations in U.S. states more accessible by providing users two options to begin exploring Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) data: a U.S. map or a world map.
U.S. Map
If the U.S. map is selected, users can hover over each state and a box with the total number of F and M students studying in that state will appear. Once a specific state is selected, the tool will populate other demographic information, such as education level and gender breakdown, at the bottom of the page.
Additionally, a world map will display under the demographic information to illustrate the total number of students from a specific continent, region or country studying in the selected state.
World Map
The world map option is still available for users to explore. It visualizes similar demographic information. If a user selects the world map, they first click on a continent, region or country of the world to begin exploring the SEVIS data.
Similarly, once an area of the world is selected, the tool populates demographic information at the bottom of the page as well as a map of the United States to illustrate where in the U.S. students from the selected region currently study.
