Resilience and Preparedness Information on Study in the States
Study in the States collaborated with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Office Academic Engagement (OAE) to launch two new resource pages for stakeholders in coordination with this week’s Homland Security Academic Advisory Council meeting:
- Campus Resilience at Student and Exchange Visitor Program-Certified Schools is specifically for school officials and reiterates the importance of incorporating your certification responsibilities into your school’s emergency operations planning.
- Maintain F and M Status in Emergency Events is a resource page geared for international students and reminds them that they must do everything in their power to maintain their nonimmigrant student status, even in the event of an emergency.
The Study in the States blog also regularly publishes preparedness tips and information from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help stakeholders plan for the unexpected. Recent preparedness blog posts include:
- Three Ways to Plan on Maintaining Your Status During an Emergency Event.
- Prepare for Common Natural Disasters.
- Resolve to Be Ready in 2015!
- National Preparedness Month: Make a Plan.
If you are a school official and want to get your campus involved in the preparedness movement, visit FEMA’s website for free resources that will help your school prepare and maintain resilience in an emergency.
