Celebrate National Parents’ Day with Free Resources on Study in the States
July 24, 2015
On Sunday, the United States will celebrate National Parents' Day. As a parent of a current or prospective F or M student studying in the United States, you play an important role in your child’s international student experience.
As an F or M student, your child can only attend schools that are certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). SEVP certification ensures that the school your child attends meets certain rules and regulations set by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. It is your responsibility to ensure that the SEVP-certified school your child chooses to attend meets your needs.
To help your child select the right school, it is important to research your options thoroughly. Study in the States offers free resources to get you started:
- Click through the Study Guide to the States for an overview of the F and M student process.
- Use the School Search map to find a list of all SEVP-certified institutions across the country and verify that your child selects a school that is eligible to accept F or M students.
- Watch the Student to Student: Studying in the States video to learn about the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-mandated regulations for students while they study in the United States.
- Read the Study in the States blog for frequent articles that help explain the rules and regulations your child must follow while studying in the United States. Recommended blog posts include:
