If you plan to study in the United States, it is important to know the various fees you will be responsible for paying. As an F or M student, below are the mandatory fees that you must pay to the U.S. government in order to study in the country: 

 

In addition to fees you must pay to the U.S. government, there are other school-related costs you are responsible for paying. These costs include application fees, tuition, books, transportation and living expenses. Additionally, some schools may charge extra fees for international students. 

 

Another important cost to consider is paying for health insurance. It is your responsibility to pay for health insurance while you study in the United States. Your college or university may provide healthcare during your studies; however, requirements and fees associated with health coverage differ from school to school. Speak with your designated school officials (DSO) to find out what health insurance fees to expect and options to consider.

 

Make sure that you do your research by visiting a school’s website and speak with the DSO at the school to determine what specific costs you will be responsible for while enrolled in school.
