Celebrate National Women’s History Month!

March 2, 2015
In the United States, National Women’s History Month is celebrated in March. According to Library of Congress this celebration pays “tribute to the generations of women whose commitment to nature and the planet have proved invaluable to society.”

To celebrate National Women’s History Month, here are a few facts about female international students in the United States, as reported in the November 2014 SEVIS by the Numbers report.

  • Forty four percent of all F and M students in the United States are female;
  • At 58 percent, Eastern Europe sends the largest number of female F and M students to the United States; and
  • Females make up 31 percent of F and M students studying the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.
Want to know more about female international students? Check Study in the States later this month for a new SEVIS by the Numbers report, showcasing the latest data and trends on international students in the United States. The new report will also highlight trends on female international STEM students.
