School Officials: Remember to Register Students in SEVIS

January 16, 2015
As students arrive on campuses across the country, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) reminds designated school officials (DSO) to double check and ensure that all enrolled F and M students who reported to your campus are properly registered as "Active" in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).

Please remember, SEVIS automatically terminates F and M student records if the DSO fails to register the student within 30 days of the program start date. Meaning, if no action is taken on new F and M students, SEVIS will terminate their records as “No Show – System Termination,” and if no action is taken on returning F and M students, SEVIS will terminate their records as “Failure to Enroll.” If this occurs, your school will need to open a data fix ticket with SEVP to reset the students’ record to "Active."

Do you have a SEVIS question? We are here to help! Contact the SEVP Response Center at 703-603-3400 between 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. EST, except on holidays. Stay tuned next week during our #WelcomeBack campaign for more helpful reminders during the new semester.
