International Student Resources for the New Year!
January 2, 2015
For international students, the New Year is marked by the start of a new school term with new classes and different classmates, and maybe even New Year’s resolutions. To help you successfully start the New Year, below are important Study in the States resources to review for 2015. Whether you are returning to study in the states or just in the planning stages, these resources can help you navigate the international student process, ensure you stay compliant with important rules and maintain your status.
Resource 1: Study Guide to the States
The Study Guide is an interactive resource to help you navigate the international student process and learn what happens during each step of the process. It includes information on finding a school, what to expect upon arrival and while you are in the United States, as well as proper departure procedures.
Resource 2: Student to Student: Studying in the States Video
In this video, international students explain how to navigate the various government agencies involved in the international student process, what to expect once you arrive in the states, how to maintain your status during your program of study and how to explore post-graduate opportunities.
Resource 3: School Search Page
This page allows you to search for Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified schools by name, city, state or even type of educational program. Use the School Search page if you are interested in studying in the states or looking to transfer schools. Remember, international students can only attend schools that are SEVP certified.
Resource 4: I-901 SEVIS Fee Tutorial
If you received acceptance to a SEVP-certified school, you will need to pay your I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee. Watch the I-901 SEVIS fee tutorial to learn about each step of the payment process, including what information you must submit and what to do once you complete your payment.
Resource 5: Study in the States Blog
