Watch a Step-by-Step Guide to Paying the I-901 SEVIS Fee
December 4, 2014
An important part of the international student admissions process is paying the I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee. You must pay this fee after receiving acceptance to a Student and Exchange Visitor Program-certified school. After you are accepted, the school will send you a Form I-20, "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Status."
When paying your I-901 SEVIS fee, you will need to enter the SEVIS ID number that is on your Form I 20. Once you pay this fee, you will be able to apply for a student visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Remember to bring the Form I-20 and your I-901 SEVIS fee payment receipt, in addition to the other required documents to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate when applying for a visa.
To assist students with paying this fee, Study in the States offers the I-901 SEVIS fee tutorial. Watch the tutorial to learn each step of the payment process, including:
• How to view your payment on a mobile device,
• How to complete a payment on FMJfee.com, and
• How to check the status of your fee once you have submitted payment.
You can pay your I-901 SEVIS Fee and watch the tutorial at the same time by stopping or pausing the tutorial when necessary. Learn more by visiting the I-901 SEVIS fee resource page.
