Apply for “Meet America” by Oct. 22!

October 2, 2014
Are you an F-1 student who is over 18 years old and studying in the United States at a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified college or university? Have you maintained your student status for one year and are interested in exploring the United States outside of your campus?

If yes, you may be eligible to apply for Meet America. Meet America is an exciting experience that combines meaningful cultural experiences and interesting professional development opportunities that will better prepare you for the global job market.

Meet America is a program hosted by Global Ties U.S., an official partner of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitors Leadership Program. This November, Global Ties U.S. will host week-long Meet America excursions for international students interested in exploring a career in either business or human rights advocacy. Selected participants will travel to Chicago, Ill., or New York, N.Y., from Nov. 23 until Nov. 28 to:

Improve networking skills and meet professionals in large American cities
Participate in mock interviews, resume building workshops and site visits
Gain key insight from experts in the field
Spend Thanksgiving with an American family
Explore the city’s art, music, theater and architecture

Remember, your main reason for coming to the United States is to study. However, if you are a full-time student at an SEVP-certified college or university, with at least one year of academic experience in the United States, you can apply before the Oct. 22 application deadline. If you have any questions concerning your status as an F-1 student, talk with your designated school official.
