National Preparedness Month: Get Involved
September 24, 2014
Every year natural disasters affect thousands of people all over the world. Depending on where you live, you may experience different types of disasters. If you are an F or M student studying in the United States, it is important to know which natural disaster could potentially affect your area. While not every type of disaster may affect you, you should know how to protect yourself.
You can get more involved by:
- Helping to prepare your community
- Registering for American’s PrepareAthon to join the movement to stay safe during disasters
- Volunteering your time with community organizations
- If you decide to volunteer, check out this guide to maintaining your status.
For more information on natural disasters and involvement, talk to your designated school official about ways your campus prepares for these emergencies and visit Ready.gov.
