Follow Government Social Media for Resources

Social media is a quick and easy way to get information on how to maintain your status. During the Social Media Summit 2014, the Department of State focused on how platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr can promote sharing of new ideas and information.
Follow these government social media accounts for updates relevant to international students:
- Department of State — Follow the Department of State on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr for information on applying for visas, and finding an embassy or consulate near you. You can also follow EducationUSA, a Department of State program, on Facebook and Twitter to learn about more opportunities for studying in the United States.
- Department of Homeland Security (DHS) — Follow DHS on Twitter and Facebook for national security updates and news from DHS components like the Transportation Security Administration for travel tips, Secret Service for security advice and Federal Emergency Management Agency for emergency preparedness.
- Study in the States — Study in the States is a hub of information on the international student process. You can get tips for paying your I-901 SEVIS fee, preparing for your arrival in the United States and maintaining your status by reading our blog, and following us on Twitter and Facebook.
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) — You can follow CBP on Twitter for updates about traveling to the United States.
- Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — The Student Exchange Visitor Program is part of ICE. You can follow ICE on Twitter and Facebook for updates on maintaining your status while in the United States.
