SEVIS by the Numbers is a report produced by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) using international student data found in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). The report is a snapshot of relevant and useful information including the number of international students in the United States, top places of origin and student demographics.
Since the January report:
- There are currently 1,015,178 F and M students in the United States, an increase of two percent.
- There are 8,930 SEVP-certified schools, a slight rise from January.
- Of all students, 75% are from Asian nations and 29% are from China.
- There was an increase of eight percent in students from India.
- Asian students accounted for 75% of all students studying science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
- 35% of students from Africa are studying STEM.
