Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month
President Barack Obama has proclaimed September 15, 2013, through October 15, 2013, to be National Hispanic Heritage Month to celebrate the culture’s important contribution in the United States. Students from Hispanic countries are also essential members of the international education community in the United States.
Did you know that according to the Institute of International Education during 2011-2012, over 64,000 students from Latin American countries studied in the United States? This total included more than 20,000 students from Mexico and Central America and more than 32,000 students from South America. In addition to these students from the Americas, close to 5,000 students from Spain enrolled in U.S. programs of study.
