Ideals and Impact in International Education: NAFSA 2013 Annual Conference & Expo

Welcome NAFSA Participants!

Representatives from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) will be attending the Association of International Educators (NAFSA) annual conference next week along with representatives from our partner agencies. Additionally, some SEVP subject matter experts will be attending via video conference. A recording of each session will be made available on Study in the States after the conference.

We will be presenting at the following sessions:

Tuesday, May 28, 2013:

  • Hot Topics: Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and Visas for Intensive English Program— Representatives from SEVP will provide updates and respond to questions on topics solicited from the audience on implementation of accreditation requirements, visas for short-term programs, recertiļ¬cation and Form I-17, “Petition for Approval of School for Attendance by Nonimmigrant Students” requirements.

Wednesday, May 29, 2013:

  • SEVIS Hot Topics: Current SEVIS I and SEVIS II Issues—This session focuses on U.S. government and international office perspectives on current SEVIS I issues and SEVIS II readiness issues.
  • Discussions with SEVP About F and M Student Issues—NAFSA member leaders and SEVP officials will discuss current and emerging regulatory issues and practices surrounding advising international students in F and M immigration status in the United States, as well as best practices.
