Nicaraguan and Honduran Students: DHS has Announced Re-designations and 18-Month Extensions of TPS

April 24, 2013

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has extended temporary protected status (TPS) for eligible nationals of Nicaragua and Honduras for an additional 18 months, beginning July 6, 2013, and ending January 5, 2015.

Eligible Nicaraguan and Honduran nationals may apply for TPS. Those who already have TPS must re-register between April 3, 2013, and June 3, 2013. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) encourages potential TPS beneficiaries to register as soon as possible once the 60-day re-registration period begins.

For more information and TPS application resources, visit the USCIS page on TPS.
