SEVIS Release 6.11 Final System Changes

Designated school officials (DSOs) and responsible officers (ROs) should be aware that updates to the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) went into effect on December 7, 2012.

The changes to SEVIS and affected users are listed below:

  • All Users
    • Updates to country lists
  • F/M
    • Validation of Secondary Major for Optional Practical Training (OPT) Extension Requests
    • Modification of H-1B Cap-Gap Status Extension Logic
    • Enhancements to School Event History
    • Restriction of PDSO Role Assignment
    • Functionality for School Withdrawal and Appeals Processing
  • J
    • Entry of Employer Identification Number
    • Ability to Add/Update Foreign Entity Information
