International Students Affected by Hurricane Sandy

October 31, 2012

Due to the impact that Hurricane Sandy has had on the east coast, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) wants all international students and designated school officials (DSOs) to know that we are monitoring the situation closely and will provide additional guidance for affected students and DSOs as more details become available.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, you will not be out of status if you are having difficulties in attending class due to your school’s temporary closure or reduction in operations. If this storm has affected your residence, transportation or documents, please talk to your DSO. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the SEVP Response Center:

E-mail: SEVP@ice.dhs.gov

Phone: 703-603-3400

For now, please visit this valuable resource on Study in the States for additional Department of Homeland Security tips and information on what to do in an emergency situation if you are an F or M student or a DSO.
