SEVP Seeks Stakeholder Feedback on Draft Guidance

August 31, 2012

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is seeking public comment on draft policy guidance for two issues: contractual relationships and flight training.  SEVP values feedback from the public and seeks their input in policy development. Your feedback helps us to better understand your areas of concern and provides a forum for us to consider all relevant information.

Contractual Relationships

SEVP has provided draft guidance on contractual relationships between schools, such as when schools contract English language training out to another school. The guidance specifies how school governance affects these contractual relationships and which school should issue the Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” in such relationships.

Flight Training

SEVP has provided draft guidance on certain requirements for flight schools to receive SEVP-certification. Specifically, the draft guidance requires that flight schools have Part 141 or 142 certification by the Federal Aviation Administration.

How to Comment on Draft Guidance

Visit SEVP Guidance: Opportunity for Stakeholder Feedback to download the guidance for each issue.  You must use the specified subject line to respond to each issue via e-mail. Please do not provide feedback on more than one issue in the same e-mail. SEVP will consider feedback on these issues from August 30, 2012, to September 14, 2012.
