Students Should Consider Quality of International Student Services When Picking School
International students think about many topics when they consider studying in the United States. As with U.S. students, cost of tuition is a concern. Students also often consider the courses of study a school offers, the school’s reputation and the school’s location.
In a post in The Student Union, a blog written by current international students in association with The Voice of America, a student urges international students to consider also the “availability and range of services that a school has to offer specifically to international students.”
The post advises students, after finding a school of interest, to determine whether the school has a special office for international student services. This can give students an idea of the kinds of services the school can offer. For example, some schools may have a special orientation for international students. The Student Union post includes video examples of international student orientations from eight schools in the United States.
All schools that are Student and Exchange Visitor Program-certified to accept F and M students have designated school officials that can answer questions about their school’s international student services and other concerns.
