International Students Learn More about Collegiate Athletics

May 17, 2012

In the United States, college sports are a big part of campus camaraderie. Whether you are an athlete on your school's team or cheering from the stands, participation can be a helpful way to be a part of your school’s community.

For example, students at the University of Missouri recently were able to learn more about American football, an extremely popular past time. The Missourian; reported that the school’s football team hosted a group of international students to teach them about the rules of the game and the nature of college football in America. The program aimed to help international students learn more about the life of a student athlete and covered topics like Missouri football traditions and treatments for injured players.

If you are an F or M student and are an athlete at your school, make sure you read Top Ten Plays for International Students for tips on maintaining your student visa status while you study and play sports in the United States.
