Check Out These Resources for National Preparedness Month

September 17, 2019

September is National Preparedness Month! The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), encourage international students and schools to take this time to plan and prepare for emergency events. The theme for 2019 is "Prepared, Not Scared."

Check out these Study in the States resources to help prepare international students for on- or off-campus emergency events:

Remember that during emergency events international students and designated school officials (DSOs) should keep in contact. DSOs can also keep in touch with their field representative to provide updates and ask for guidance. SEVP will also share updates and reminders for schools and international students during an emergency on the Study in the States social media pages.

For additional emergency preparedness resources from DHS, visit Ready.gov and the Campus Resilience Program Resource Library.

You can also download the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mobile application and follow FEMA on social media.
