Paying the I-901 SEVIS Fee with Western Union
All F and M students who study in the United States need to pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee before applying for a visa to enter the country. If you plan to use Western Union to pay your fee, the process has changed to allow for immediate receipt of your I-901 payment. There is no change to the payment process when paying the fee by credit or debit card, check or money order.
Beginning April 15, 2014, you must complete the Form I-901 on FMJFee.com before going to a Western Union location. Completing the form online will generate a unique coupon number which you will need to validate and process your payment at Western Union. You cannot submit a payment via Western Union without this coupon number.
If a third party is paying your I-901 SEVIS fee on your behalf, you need to provide them with your coupon number to enter in the Account Number field of the Western Union Quick Pay/Quick Collect Form. For instructions on how to complete the Western Union Quick Pay/Quick Collect form, please visit SEVP’s website. Upon successful completion of payment at Western Union, your payment will be posted immediately in FMJFee.com.
This change is part of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program’s (SEVP) efforts to streamline the payment process allowing for real-time posting of Western Union payments and permitting students to immediately print their I-901 SEVIS fee payment confirmation, which is needed to apply for a student visa to study in the United States.
