International Education Week (IEW), a joint initiative by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, will take place on November 12, 2012 through November 16, 2012. Exchange visitors enter the United States in J-1 visa status. This classification is for individuals approved to participate in work-and study-based exchange visitor programs.  All J-1 nonimmigrants must be sponsored by an organization that is designated by the Department of State.
