Visit New Special Student Relief Resources

January 11, 2023

Special Student Relief (SSR) is the suspension of certain regulatory requirements by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for an F‑1 student from parts of the world that are experiencing emergent circumstances. Once an SSR notice is published, designated school officials (DSOs) may certify if an F-1 student meets the criteria to qualify for SSR.

Do you have questions about SSR? The Student and Exchange Visitor Program published two new resources to ICE.gov/SEVP for students and DSOs.

Newest Resources:

  • SSR Fact Sheet: This new page contains answers to frequently asked questions about SSR.
  • SSR table on the What’s New page: This table includes a list of all active SSR notices with details on their publication and expiration. Locate the table under the Special Student Relief heading on the What’s New page.

Learn more about SSR on the Special Student Relief page.
