Be Prepared for the June 26 SEVIS Outage

June 10, 2015
This June, there will be an important update made to the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). As a result, SEVIS will be unavailable beginning 8 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 26 through 8 p.m. EDT on Sunday, June 28.

It is important that designated school officials (DSOs) and international students are aware of the services that will be delayed or unavailable during this system outage.

There may be a delay or lack of availability for the below services during the outage. Be sure to make the necessary arrangements to complete these processes before or after the June SEVIS outage.

  • I-901 SEVIS Fee payments on FMJFee.com will be unavailable. Be sure to make payments before June 26 or you will have to wait until the outage is over. While no new payments can be made during the SEVIS outage, F and M students will still be able to print their payment confirmation receipts from FMJFee.com.
  • There could be a possible delay for U.S. student visa issuance during the SEVIS outage. Check with your local U.S. Department of State embassy or consulate for more information.
  • F and M students can travel to the United States during this outage; however, students should expect delays at U.S. ports of entry. F and M students whose information cannot be verified during primary inspection will be sent to secondary inspection where they can expect additional significant delays in entering the country.
  • Social Security number and driver's license applications and services may be delayed or unavailable during the outage. Check with your local Social Security Administration and Department of Motor Vehicles before you make requests for these services during the June SEVIS outage.
Are you an international student with questions about how the SEVIS outage will impact you? Speak with your DSO or contact the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) Response Center at 800-892-4829 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET. You can also send an email to SEVP@ice.dhs.gov

Are you a designated school official and want to know more about the upcoming SEVIS Release and outage? Read the SEVIS Release 6.21 Planning Guide for more information and contact the SEVP Response Center with any SEVIS technical questions at SEVISHelpDesk@ice.dhs.gov
