SEVIS by the Numbers Provides Comprehensive Data on International Students
Did you know that there are more international students in the United States from Asia than any other continent? Or that China alone, excluding the rest of Asia, sends more students to the United States than the rest of the world combined?
If findings like these interest you, read the latest SEVIS by the Numbers report from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) for more international education insights. SEVIS by the Numbers is a quarterly report using data from the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), which SEVP uses to track and monitor the status and activities of nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors who enter the United States. The report is a snapshot of relevant and useful information including the number of international students in the United States, top places of origin, and student demographics.
Some of the data highlighted in the latest SEVIS by the Numbers report includes:
- 54% of all international students enroll in schools in California, New York, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, Illinois and Pennsylvania
- Business related degrees continue to be the most popular majors, followed by engineering
- 66% of all foreign mathematics and statistics students come from China
- The University of Southern California has more F-1 international students than any other SEVP‑certified school
