SEVP Seeks Stakeholder Feedback on Draft Guidance

July 11, 2014

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is seeking public comment on draft policy guidance on conditional admission. SEVP values feedback from the public and seeks their input to ensure SEVP policies consider all relevant information.

Conditional Admission

The conditional admission draft policy guidance addresses the practice when a school issues the Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” to a student for admission to a program without the student meeting all admission standards. The purpose of this draft guidance is to clarify SEVP regulations and ensure uniformity of interpretation. This policy guidance is the first in a series of draft policy guidance documents that discuss pathway programs and conditional admission issues. SEVP intends to publish additional guidance documents on these topics in the near future.

How to Comment on Draft Guidance

SEVP is issuing this draft policy guidance for adjudicators to provide its stakeholders with the opportunity to comment on these policies. Visit SEVP Guidance for Comment to download the draft guidance. To comment on the guidance, e-mail SEVPFeedback@ice.dhs.gov with the subject line “Conditional Admission.” SEVP will consider feedback on these issues until August 25, 2014
